Canadians and Americans. Now that the war of 1812 is behind us, let’s put the conflict aside and concentrate on being friends. What better way to become friends than over cyclocross? And beer. We would love to see a huge crowd of Americans in Winnipeg for the Shimano Canadian Cyclocross Championships, presented by Volvo. Friendly rivalry is encouraged. And after the racing is done, let’s make sure to sit down together to enjoy a few pints of Half Pints Dead Ringer Belgian IPA, brewed especially for the event by the Half Pints Brewing Company.
Please note that UCI/international licenses are required for all races. Yes, even for the Open Races. For USAC license holders who need to upgrade to an international license in order to participate, we are willing to credit the cost of the upgrade toward your race fees, provided you do at least two races.
If you are going this route, make sure to have your license in hand on race day. And make sure to shoot us an email so that we can coordinate all the details.
There are races for Americans on all three days. Here’s the skinny on what we have planned for our friends from south of the border.
Friday, Oct. 24 – Kick Cancer Cyclocross Derby
The Friday Night Open Race is the one to do.
Saturday, Oct. 25 – Canadian Cyclocross Championships
Americans are not eligible to race in the Canadian Championship races. But we have created the Wannabe Canadian Challenge race just for you. You might even win some poutine. Or maple syrup. Or perhaps even a beaver pelt.
Sunday, Oct. 26 – Manitoba Grand Prix of Cyclocross
Americans can race in any category for which they are eligible. Let the cross-border rivalries begin!
