The Kids Course will be separate from the main course and designed with the little ones in mind. It will be around 800 metres in length and it will have all the elements of a real cyclocross course, only they will be kid-sized. There will be hills and berms, barriers, and even a run-up.
There will be a full slate of races on Saturday and Sunday for kids ranging in age from 3 to 10, including a push bike race for the wee ones. Kids over 10 (as of Dec. 31, 2016) will race on the main course. The Kids Course will be open on Friday as well, for those who want to rip around during the Kick Cancer Cyclocross Derby.
The Forks also features a critically acclaimed BMX and Skate Park–The Plaza at the Forks. So when the kids are tired of racing, they can head over there to practice their tricks and skills. Big kids and adults will no doubt want to check it out as well. See the article on the skatepark in Concrete Magazine.
The Kids Course is adjacent to an awesome playground–The Variety Heritage Adventure Park. So there is plenty of fun to be had even when there are no bikes involved.
